Do you think i could make it to an ivy league?

im only a freshman but have a 3.9 GPA, through out the rest of highschool i will have taken 7 honors, 5 APs, im in the top tenth of my class. won community service award, given to only one person in the city, tutor, national honor society, mathletes, future educator of america, dance team, snowball (against alcohol) choir member, took ACT in 6th grade, part of duke giftted talent search, invited to represent my state in national student leadership conference, high honor roll.
if i do good on my tests like SAT, could i make it?You for sure sound smart and well rounded, and that is a big plus.

You have to remember that a lot of people are also very well rounded, and that legacies are taken into consideration as well.

I would recommend doing something that isn't so academic related, like dance team (which you already do) or something athletic, etc. It'll help boost up your impressive "resume".

But other than that, you will most definitely get in, unless someone with the same credential that is a legacy comes along.

Don't stress, you've got a while to go honey!SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!Most likely, damn thats a lot.wow if not you - than who?I would think so.Of course. follow ur dreamsYou certainly sound very smart. You may want to try to get in touch with someone from the ivy league school of your choice, IE admissions director and talk with them about your chances and what else they recommend to get in.so far very good. Those leadership conferences usually just want your money unless they were offering a free ride though.Congratulations on your achievements so far. Keep up the hard work and don't be afraid to contact the admissions departments of the school(s) of your choice to get an idea of where you need to perform on the SAT.Go For It! Its extremely hard but its for extremely exceptional people. Its also very expensive look into every scholarship you can. Your chances are 50/50 and so are everybody else's. Good Luck!Nope. You don't have the connections, and you're not rich.

Just kidding. I would be surprised if you didn't, you just need to follow through throughout High School.

P.S.- Sorry for being a grammar Nazi, but I can't resist:

You need to do well on your SAT, not "do good."no u will probably not make it...I'm not going to say yes, and I'm not going to say no. You have a high chance, yes, but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll get in. I know someone who has kept a 4.6 average their entire life with extra activities, awards, advanced schools and recommendations from teachers who graduated from Ivy League schools and he didn't get in. Sometimes, it's just "the luck of the Irish," as they say. Keep going and keep working towards it. Just keep hoping and believing. If you get in, congratulations. If you don't, one lucky school will have one hell of a student.interestin summary...n sure y not...but stop braggin bout it...i fu*(kin hate dat isshh ...sorry for da hostility...im top ten of ma senior class n wut....oh yeah i aint goin to college neither lol...not dat i cant but i dont want toi absoloutely think so u know i wouldnt be surprised if u got a big scholarship the only way u wouldnt make it is if they thought u did too much activities that happened to my very best friend she did so many things that they thought she didnt make itwish my kids were as interested as some of the 9th graders who are on this website.

Here is what I was told 2 years ago by Johns Hopkins University, which I am sure you would agree is pretty close to Ivy League:

When I called Johns Hopkins U to ask, they said they "look" at the 9th grade scores, but they don't calculate those scores when they figure out your GPA. They look at your grades in only CORE ACADEMIC CLASSES (sciences, English, social studies, math, maybe foreign language, I'm not sure) for grades 10 and 11 and half of 12th grade when they decide who to admit. They add up all the grades for the core classes, take the average and that is your GPA that they work with. 90-100 is an A, 80-90 is a B, etc.

Want to know what else they said?
Only 21% of the applicants are accepted.
They look to see if you took the hardest courses offered at your school.
Did you have leadership roles in all of your after school activities?

75% of the kids admitted to JHU have a GPA between 3.7 and 3.8

They like to see volunteer work and good letters of recommendation from your teachers, but the high school transcript is the most important thing. If that doesn't look good, nothing else matters. They don't want to hear about potential, they want to see what you have done.

Typical ACT score of those students who are admitted: 30-34 composite (top score is 36)
Typical SAT score of admitted students: 1350-1500 in the old SAT (top score was 1600 then)(800 in math and 800 in English is top score on old SAT)

The lady in Admissions said that they don't really care much if you made National Merit semi-finalist. They care about how hard your classes are and what grades you got in them.Yeah, you seem like a great, successful student. If I were an admissions counselor I would accept you. You have everything going on for you, and appear to be above average.

But don't forget that everyone applying to Ivy League schools are exactly like you. You definately have a chance, but acceptances at Ivy Leagues are never guranteed. Also, as a freshman, it's a little too early to tell how your grades will change. I had a 4.0 my freshman year after taking all honors courses. Then I began to take A.P classes and my GPA went down from there to a 3.7 .I am a senior right now. I am in all A.P classes currently, NHS, high honors, top 15% of my class, Varsity Tennis and Volleyball letterman since freshman year, I got the President's award for educational excellence, I did exceptionally well on my SAT and A.P. tests and I got rejected to schools I thought I would get into.

My best advice is to keep up what your doing. That is all you can do right now. Try to raise your test scores. But don't forget that college admissions is subjective. Your race and socio-economic status and having legacies play a HUGE factor at these Ivy League schools.
You'll get into a great school. Just do your best.

You know what. Actually, I was just trying to be positive. I hate to say it, but you probably will get rejected from Ivy League schools. No offense. You'll get into a good school, but your not Harvard material. I see right through people like you. Your a "resume" applicant. Like "leadership conferences"???? Those are a bunch of B.S. and colleges know that. Almost everyone I know has been invited to those including myself. From a senior to a freshman, YOU'RE DREAMING!!! You're a good student, but you need to have something extra...try creating a cure for cancer...that will get you in. I'm really sorry, but I'm being realistic.ok well heres the deal. one of my good friends applied to MIT which is one of the best schools in the US and he might not get it.

2380 SAT
35 ACT
4.3 GPA
over 300 hours community service
Won Academic Challenge
Won regional math competition
Took top 5 at states

so its very competitive. the SAT and ACT will make or break your chances of going to an ivy school.

Edit: if you have a 3.9 right now then that is a problem. i really dont think you'll make it. go for a full scholarship at a state college.
