The only way she could speak with them is for her to say she is you and she can then verify by giving all the pertinent information.
We had this experience with our son. We needed to have questions answered and couldn't get it done as he was often at work. So, his dad called and since we are his parents we are well aware of all of his personal info. and in fact were the ones that filled out all of his paper work.
He got his financial aide. It was a pain in the neck but well worth the effort. You're welcome. Good luck and much success to you too. :*) Report It What you failed to mention is which parent is the parent of record.
Any Financial Aid Officer worth their salt will only discuss the 'student' with the parent of record.
If your dad is the POR, you'll have to write a release to the school in order for them to speak with mom.
It's all about the privacy laws.If you are over 18 and should be taking care of your financial aid yourself. You are now an adult and taking the time to enter college you should take responsiblity for your own money matters. If your financial aid officer values their job they should not be talking to anyone but you. Be thankful for the privacy laws that we have of just anyone could say that they were your parent and access yours and your moms' information. It is your education not hers so you need to take care of the problems. the parents that take care of everything are the ones that also get upset when they can;t get on and check the child's grades without their permission and the ones that gets upset when the professors won't answer their questions about how their child is doing in class cause they are no longer in control.
